Hexagons are making a big come-back at the moment and are a great way to use up those scraps. We’ve added a couple of new patterns to Meadowside for those of you who love these designs.
First up is a beautiful soft pinks and greens with stars in between the rows of hexagons. This is one from Ann Jermey and uses large hexagons so it grows very quickly. You can even piece it on the machine. You will find this one under ‘Small Quilts’ on the website as it measures a 36 inches by 44.
Going smaller is this cot quilt designed by Chris for her nephew who was born in Japan. The hexagons here are smaller and can be appliqued onto the background or it can all be pieced. A blank outline is given so you can design your own. And you needn’t use Oriental prints – it will look good with any scraps.
And then – if you like the look of hexagons but can’t face all the fiddle – here’s one from Ann that is rotary cut and machine pieced. You will find this one (and the cot quilt) under ‘Small Quilts’ in the Patterns section.
As ever all these patterns are only £5 each and can be downloaded instantly.
And now we must get back to the serious business of packing up for the quilt show at Uttoxeter this weekend – the British Quilt and Stitch Village.
